Adult Education:
Volunteer Programs / Adult Education

Adult Education:

Teaching adults is a specialized type of teaching. There is an awareness and focus for the adult learner which can vary a great deal. The person with an interest in this field would aid by adjusting his or her level of teaching and would be able to accommodate the adult who specifically needs to learn for literacy, gainingemployment or other important pursuits. One is made aware of specific learning styles and how to accommodate these in an individualized fashion. Programs may be designed by the individual in the area that the learner wants to target. One would become skilled at assessing needs and interests. Show capability for creating real life scenarios for the adults to study and an understanding for detailed needs analysis. Experience would dictate the ability to think on the spot to adjust teaching methods especially if one was not showing results. Competence becomes second nature, trust; thorough knowledge is developed as well as capability. He or she does not impart knowledge in a strict or unorganized manner. Make the task of learning very interactive, which makes it more exciting. Show the adult learner strategies that can make them feel comfortable with the learning process. The individual gains competence, confidence and experience. The adult learner gains confidence and language comprehension.
